Dear fellow neurosurgeons:

The 2nd National Neurosurgery Congress of Continuing Medical Education and the 2nd Neurosurgical International Forum in Xuanwu Hospital of National Center for Neurological Disorders, sponsored by China Primary Health Care Foundation and organized by the National Center for Neurological Disorders in Xuanwu Hospital and the Department of Neurosurgery of Xuanwu Hospital of Capital Medical University, will be held in Beijing on August 23-25, 2024.

The Center for Capacity Building and Continuing Education of the National Health Commission initiated the implementation of the neurosurgery-specific capacity training program in 2022. and so far, 50 neurosurgery bases and 474 neurosurgery construction centers have been selected. For three consecutive years, it has carried out the declaration of neurological scientific research topics and the establishment of projects, trained more than 5200 neurosurgery trainees, and affected more than 10,000 grass-roots neurosurgeons across the country. In April 2023, the first China Neurosurgeon Diagnosis and Treatment Ability Competition was launched.

In order to continuously promote the improvement and standardization of neurosurgical diagnostic and treatment ability, enhance the effect of training, and discover and cultivate more specialized therapeutic talents, the 1st National Neurosurgery Congress of Continuing Medical Education and the 1st Neurosurgical International Forum in Xuanwu Hospital of National Center were held in Beijing in August 2023. The 1st Congress held a training course of special ability in 6 directions, a training camp of diagnostic and treatment ability improvement in 4 directions, and 8 thematic forums, which attracted more than 2,000 neurosurgeons to register for the conference, with more than half coming from the grassroots of the county. The superior leaders of National People's Congress Standing Committee, the National Health Commission, etc. visited the site, expressed warm congratulations on the convening of the conference, affirmed the great significance of neurosurgery to the construction of the continuous medical education system, and encouraged the sharing of experience and mutual exchange among the national neurosurgery bases, which is also a milestone and a new starting point for the construction of the neurosurgery continuous medical education system.

With the emphasis on clinical specialty capacity building and various initiatives at the national level, the 2nd National Neurosurgery Congress of Continuing Medical Education will focus on primary medical institutions, innovate specialty capacity building models, create systematic and standardized specialty building benchmarks, and push the construction of neurosurgery continuing medical education system to a new level. At the same time, the conference focuses on the training, education, and career planning of neurosurgeons in hospitals at all levels, and is an important conference for neurosurgeons to attend at the entry and development stages.

This year's congress will continue to focus on neurosurgeon training, with the keywords of discipline construction in counties; training of shortage talents, neurosurgical innovation and transformation, construction of Young Talents Association for Continuing Medical Education of, Neurosurgery training of management and scientific research for basic units of neurosurgery. Training camps and special training will continue to be conducted separately from brain tumor, neurointervention, neurotrauma, neuroendoscope, spinal neurosurgery, neurocritical, skull base surgery, pediatric neurosurgery, and other subspecialties. In addition, the conference will also focus on scientific research, education and management directions such as neurosurgery refresher training, neurosurgery nursing personnel training, neurosurgery hierarchical diagnosis and treatment system construction, neurosurgery discipline management construction, neurosurgery teaching and management training, neurosurgery scientific research capacity building, neurosurgery base construction, etc., and at the same time, it will open the  Neurological Medicine Innovation and Transformation Forum, the Humanity and Arts Forum, and the Neuroscience Forum and other innovative directions. The national final of the 2nd China Neurosurgeon Diagnosis and Treatment Ability Competition, which has attracted much attention, will also be held grandly during this conference.

We have been working hard for the past few years, and we will continue to move forward.
