Background

Dr. Wang Yunpeng obtained his Bachelor of Medicine degree from the Shandong University in 2002. From 2002 to 2005, he pursued further studies in the Department of Neurology at the Saint Petersburg State Pavlov Medical University in Russia, under the guidance of Professor Skoromechi A.A., Under his mentorship, Dr. Wang comprehensively and systematically studied various foundational aspects of neurology. Concurrently, he joined the Institute of the Human Brain at the Russian Academy of Sciences, where he began his clinical practice in neurosurgery under the careful guidance of Professor Mazaev V.B. Over the course of three years, he participated in multiple research projects within the department, including "The Application of Autologous Neural Stem Cell Transplantation in Neurosurgery". He also took part in the first-ever surgical treatment of "Autologous Omentum Transplantation for Large Cerebellar Hemisphere Infarction," which resulted in a very favorable prognosis.

In 2005, Dr. Wang entered Russian Federation Polenov Neurosurgical institute for his doctoral studies. His primary focus during this period was on central nervous system tumors, under the supervision of Professor Olujshin V.E., His doctoral thesis, titled "Clinical Characteristics and Comprehensive Treatment of Oligodendroglioma and Oligoastrocytoma," was unanimously approved by the dissertation committee in 2008, earning him a Ph.D. in Neurosurgery from the Russian Federation. During this time, he completed various practical trainings in the field of neurosurgery, such as "Microvascular Surgical Training" and "Advanced Neuroendoscopy Training."

In the latter half of 2008, Dr. Wang joined the postdoctoral program at Capital Medical University, where he embarked on a two-year postdoctoral research project. His research focused on the surgical treatment of functional neurological brain disorders, with an emphasis on refractory epilepsy. He concluded his postdoctoral work in 2010 with a successful defense of his research project, "Surgical Treatment of Post-Encephalitic Refractory Epilepsy," and subsequently became a neurosurgeon in the Department of Functional Neurosurgery at Xuanwu Hospital. Since joining Xuanwu Hospital, his work and research have concentrated on the diagnosis and treatment of functional neurological disorders, particularly the surgical treatment of drug-resistant epilepsy and movement disorders (such as Parkinson's disease, dystonia, cerebral palsy, and essential tremor). He was appointed Consultant Neurosurgeon in 2013.
