Background
Dr. Wang, Xueyuan was born in Baoding City, Hebei Province, and completed his primary to junior high school in Hebei Province. He attended high school in Jinghai County, Tianjin Province. From September 1997 to July 2004, he completed his undergraduate and master's degrees in the seven-year clinical medicine program at Tianjin Medical University. Under the guidance of Professor Yang, Shuyuan, a renowned neurosurgical expert, he completed his clinical training and master's thesis research. In July 2004, he was assigned to work as a resident physician in the Department of Neurosurgery at Tianjin Huanhu Hospital. He then rotated through the Department of Radiology and Neurology at General Hospital of Tianjin Medical University for one year, systematically learning about the diagnosis and treatment of neurological diseases. He successfully obtained the admission qualification for Doctor of Neurosurgery from Tianjin Medical University four years after graduating with his master's degree, conducted proteomics research on traumatic brain injury, and received his doctorate in 2011. During nearly a decade of clinical work at Tianjin Huanhu Hospital, he completed his clinical training, microsurgery, and endovascular neurosurgical training, treating numerous patients with cerebral hemorrhage, brain trauma, brain tumors, and cerebrovascular diseases. Because of interest in functional neurosurgery, in February 2014, he joined Professor Li Yongjie's team at Xuanwu Hospital, Capital Medical University, as a postdoctoral researcher, focusing primarily on the study of neuromodulation techniques for refractory epilepsy. Three years later, he completed the Post-doctoral fellowship and entered the functional neurosurgery department of Xuanwu Hospital. He now works on the surgical treatment of refractory epilepsy, cranial nerve disorders, movement disorders, and neuropathic pain.
