Research Interests

Exploring the pathophysiology and treatment mechanism of movement disorders through neuroimaging and developing multimodal imaging visualization targeting method and system for deep brain stimulation.


Background

Prof. Dr. Ren, Zhiwei was born in Beijing, and completed his primary to senior high school studies in Beijing. From 2003.09 to 2014.07, he successfully completed undergraduate to doctoral studies at Capital Medical University (CMU), Xuanwu Hospital and Beijing Institute of Functional Neurosurgery, and obtained his M.D. and Ph.D. degree. Professor Ren entered the neurosurgery department of Xuanwu Hospital in 2010.08, from 2010.08 to 2017.08, he completed his clinical training, general neurosurgery, epilepsy, chronic pain, movement disorders neurosurgery training. In 2020.11 he started to be the consultant neurosurgeon of the Neurosurgery Department of Xuanwu Hospital, and 2022.01 he started to be the associate professor of Capital Medical University. His team focus on diagnosis and treatment of movement disorders as well as Parkinson’s disease, essential tremor, dystonia.
