Research background

Unilateral deafness associated with acoustic neuroma (ANM) has a serious impact on the health and quality of life of patients. Because acoustic neuroma-associated unilateral deafness is a post-cochlear lesion, air-conduction hearing aids are ineffective, and cochlear implants are almost ineffective, bone conduction hearing aids are considered to be a better solution for acoustic neuroma-associated unilateral deafness.

Research programs

Xuanwu Hospital of Capital Medical University is conducting a clinical study on unilateral deafness associated with acoustic neuroma. Initiated by Dr. Song Gang of the Department of Neurosurgery at Xuanwu Hospital of Capital Medical University, the study has been approved by the Ethics Committee (Ethics No.Pro-Research[2023] 110), and plans to recruit 24 patients with acoustic neuroma-associated unilateral deafness, with the aim of evaluating the efficacy of dental bone conduction technology for acoustic neuroma-associated unilateral deafness.

Inclusion criteria

Chinese people aged between 18 and 60 years old;

Patients with unilateral deafness associated with acoustic neuroma;

Not using any other hearing aids;

Hearing loss in the ear on the tumor side and normal hearing in the healthy ear (hearing screening inclusion criteria are as follows)

(For specific inclusion or exclusion criteria, please consult the study physician)

Patient benefits

Those who sign up will be given priority to receive a professional assessment by a team of auditory neuroma specialists;

Those who are eligible for inclusion will be offered the opportunity to purchase a Dental Bone Conduction Hearing System at a discounted price, as well as a free hearing, oral and ear exam;

 A medical consultation with a team of audiologic neuroma specialists is provided.
