On August 3-4, 2024, the 7th Annual Academic Conference of the CAAE Stereotactic Electroencephalography and Brain Localization Committee was successfully held in Xiong'an New District. It was, hosted by the Stereotactic Electroencephalography and Brain Localization Committee of the Chinese Association Against Epilepsy and co-organized by Xuanwu Hospital of Capital Medical University, . Nearly 100 expert speakers from home and abroad gathered together to presented a wonderful academic feast. Nearly 500 domestic colleagues attended the conference.
“This year marks the eighth year since the establishment of the Stereotactic Electroencephalography and Brain Localization Committee. I am delighted to find that this advanced technology of SEEG has already reached a certain scale in China and is favored by patients and doctors. However, it should also be noted that there are still many clinical scientific issues that need to be urgently resolved in the practice of SEEG implantation and the management of complications. Our understanding of intracranial electroencephalography and brain networks may be just the tip of the iceberg. At this stage, we also need to maintain a sense of curiosity, observe every phenomenon, then distill scientific questions and find answers in the clinic. We should explore the boundaries of SEEG from different angles and dimensions, just as we explore the boundaries of the universe. At the same time, for some common problems and regular problems, the committee members also have the responsibility to teach and solve problems, so as to maximize the advantages of SEEG and minimize the risks.”
——Professor Zhao Guoguang, Chairman of the Conference
