1. Our services
After the "China International Neuroscience Institute" put into use in 2019, the number of beds in the Neurosurgery Spine Center increased to 68. The number of operations reached 2300 per year. (The target volume of operations is 3,200-3,600 annually.) The center brings together world-renowned specialists in Neurosurgery to design the most effective treatment for each patient's condition. The leading experts are Prof. Feng-zheng Jian, Prof. Zhan Chen, and Prof. Hao Wu. From perspectives in clinical research, the Neurosurgery spine Center is further divided into cervical spine group, lumbar spine group, tumor group, and spinal cord injury repair group.
Xuanwu Hospital Neurosurgery spine Center is a training center for doctoral and master students. It is also a post-doctoral mobile station. The center offers unique training experiences for neurosurgery and orthopedic refresher doctors nationwide. We usually admit 24 to 26 doctors for training every year. Since 2006, More than 30 training courses on spinal minimally invasive surgery have been held. We have trained a large number of spine minimally invasive technical personnel across the country.
Since its establishment, the Neurosurgery spine Center has made a series of clinical and academics achievements. The center is the first one in the world that published the concepts and technologies of "Direct posterior reduction and fixation for the treatment of basilar invagination with atlantoaxial dislocation" and successfully launched the "Xuanwu Neck Fixation System."
In treating cervical spondylosis and lumbar spondylosis, the center is also the first one in China to report the surgical techniques and clinical results for the treatment of microsurgery cervical foramen expansion, lumbar spinal stenosis, and other minimally invasive procedures. In the last few years, we are in a leading position in techniques such as the Reconstruction of 3D-printed vertebral bodies to treat spinal tumors and the Lumbar lateral approach (OLIF, LLIF) treatment of degenerative lumbar deformities.
