On April 1, 2024, the seventh anniversary of the establishment of Xiongan New Area, Xiongan Xuanwu Hospital, the first general hospital in Xiongan New Area to be built to the standards of a tertiary hospital, has officially opened its first batch of wards, with the simultaneous opening of the Surgery Center, the Intervention Center, and the Intensive Care Unit. On April 1, the opening ceremony of Xiongan Xuanwu Hospital's surgery center was held as scheduled. Gao Lichun, director of the Public Service Bureau of Xiongan New Area Administrative Committee, Zhao Guoguang, president of Xuanwu Hospital of Capital Medical University, Cao Peifeng, CPC Party secretary of Xiongan Xuanwu Hospital, Li Jia, vice president of Xuanwu Hospital of Capital Medical University and president of Xiongan Xuanwu Hospital, Zhang Hongqi, director of the Department of Neurosurgery of Xuanwu Hospital of Capital Medical University and director of the Department of Neurosurgery of Xiongan Xuanwu Hospital, and other leaders and experts jointly cut the ribbon for the surgery center. The first microscopic neurosurgery operation in Xuanwu Hospital Surgery Center was successfully completed by the team of Director Wu Hao of Department of Neurosurgery, Xuanwu Hospital.

At 9:00 a.m. on the 1st, the first surgery of Xiongan Xuanwu Hospital opened. The surgery was a resection of a tumor with internal and external communication in the high cervical segment of the spinal canal, which was performed by Wu Hao, senior consultant neurosurgeon of Xuanwu Hospital of Capital Medical University and executive director of Department of Neurosurgery of Xiongan Xuanwu Hospital. The patient is a 36-year-old young man who came to Xiongnan Xuanwu Hospital one month ago after feeling neck pain and weakness in his left upper limb. The surgery lasted one hour and ten minutes, and the tumor was successfully removed from both inside and outside the cervical spinal canal. Immediately afterward, Director Wu Hao's team prepared for the second surgery, a lumbar disc removal surgery, which took one hour and was also successfully completed. With the joint efforts of all the medical staff in the department, the two patients were in good condition after the operation, their symptoms had fully improved and they were recovering gradually. The success of these two surgeries not only highlights the strength and level of the Department of Neurosurgery at Xuanwu Hospital, but also brings new hope to the patients.

The neurosurgery ward of Xiongnan Xuanwu Hospital is located on the 5th floor of the inpatient 2 department, with a total of 13 beds. On March 28, Xiongnu Hospital started to receive inpatients. At 13:57 that afternoon, Mr. Du, a patient, was admitted to the neurosurgery ward through the one-stop hospitalization procedure, becoming the first inpatient admitted to Xuanwu Hospital.
