On April 13, the National Health Commission issued the "Notice of the Establishment of the National Neurological Disease Medical Center". The Huashan Hospital affiliated to Fudan University, Xuanwu Hospital and Beijing Tiantan Hospital affiliated to Capital Medical University jointly constitute the National Neurological Disease Medical Center. The establishment of the center aims to further promote the expansion and balance the distribution of high-quality medical resources, build an efficient medical and health service system, and enhance the capacity of diagnosis and treatment.

As the main body of the National Neurological Disease Medical Center, Xuanwu Hospital is responsible for the daily operation and management of the center, ensuring that it carries out its duties and tasks. In the future, with the support of leaders at all levels, a multi-center collaborative mechanism will be established to support the medical service, scientific research, education, personnel training, international exchange, disease prevention, public health, and policy formulation.

Neuro-intervention, neuro-pathology, neuro-rehabilitation, neuro-imaging, neuro-pharmacology, neuro-biochemistry, neuro-electrophysiology, gene and cell diagnostics, and other fields go hand in hand, condensing into a neuroscience cluster with comprehensive strength in the leading position in China and attracting attention at home and abroad. The hospital also has 1 national key cultivation discipline, 6 national key clinical specialties, 9 national platforms such as the National Neurological Disease Medical Center, the China International Neuroscience Institute, the National Clinical Research Center for Geriatric Diseases, and the National Engineering Laboratory of Internet Medical Diagnosis and Treatment Technology, and 10 municipal platforms such as the Beijing Municipal Center for Elderly Health Care and Disease Control.
